Introduction
Bűvös Kocka — Hungarian for Magic Cube.
On this website, you will find a collection of essays, notes, and other resources written and compiled for a future publication on the subject of the Hungarian Magic Cube.
The Magic Cube was invented in 1974 by Hungarian sculptor and professor of architecture Ernő Rubik, and was initially intended to help students with three-dimensional visualization. Soon thereafter, it was marketed as a toy and, after modest success in Hungary and some parts of Europe, it was introduced to the United States under the name it is most recognized as today: Rubik’s Cube™.
